The ‘Not So Serious’ label by Pallavi Mohan has always pushed the fashion boundaries at every fashion week. At Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2019 her collection “Simply Studio 54” revived the glitz, glamour and glory of the feisty 70’s that was a decade of extravagant infamous fashion.
Going retro full throttle, Pallavi presented her version of that 70’s era as she unleashed on the runway sheer fluid dresses, sinful off-shoulder creations and sexy halters that glowed with shimmer and shine as well as the liquid look surfaces.
Keeping the fun-filled, element intact, there were oversized silhouettes for blouses, ballooning sleeves and voluminous shapes. Staying true to the high gloss image there were satin and rich velvets along with lamé that was splashed with crystals, a sprinkling of sequins and seductive feathers. The colours matched the glorious theme as jewel tones like emerald and turquoise worked their magic for the garments on the ramp.
Opening the show with a flouncy feathered hemline, wine coloured dress, the look moved to more opulent creations with feathers that appeared on jumpsuits, draped gowns, minis, sleeves, wrists and shoulders of the ensembles. The feathered hemline sack, strappy camisole, and dress encrusted with fly away feathers stayed true to the inspiration. The silver, balloon-sleeved, blouse and the vertical striped gown once again covered with matching feathers created the mood of the theme.
To match the excitement of the show, it was the very sexy and sultry Esha Gupta who glided in wearing a silver slinky gown with a feathered trail and high slit that created the perfect end to the 70’s inspired creations.
Pallavi Mohan’s “Simply Studio 54” collection was a rocking fashion happening that will recreate for the wearer the fabulous 70’s days when life was carefree and the nights were meant to party.
